The U.S. intersex movement took shape between 1996 and 2026 in response to violent medical theories created in the 1950s. It was always digital-first.

This is an incomplete, human-written collection of acts of resistance across the United States. We consider eight broad categories: Art, Media, Gathering, Policy, Law, Protest, Scholarship, and State Violence. Information comes from our own oral interviews, combined with art and research from other web and print sources. Learn more about our process, or contact us if you have something you'd like to add.
