Hermaphrodites with Attitude and Transexual Menace protest American Academy of Pediatrics Conference
With the support of Transexual Menace, Morgan Holmes and Max Beck protested the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Convention that took place in Boston in 1996. Morgan Holmes recounted her experience at Mount Sinai in New York City prior to the Boston event where intersex activists were given a platform to speak. However, at the AAP Convention, they were barred from entering. The trans and intersex activists stood outside with their banner, Hermaphrodites with Attitude, handed out leaflets, and spoke to curious attendees. Their presence would spark one of the first public acts of resistance to the medical establishment and center the experiences of intersex adults who survived medical harm.
